Cabo San Lucas boasts a landscape dotted with prickly cacti and dramatic rock formations bordered by white-sand beaches and sparkling turquoise waters. Famous for sports fishing, the city hosts a gala of marlin-fishing tournaments every year. In addition, it is also a golf mecca with a half dozen world-class championship golf courses and a haven for outdoor sports, from sailing and parasailing to boating and jet skiing, to scuba diving and snorkeling . Those who prefer sticking closer to terra firma can enjoy horseback riding and nature hikes. From January to March, whale watching is also popular.

"Cabo," as they call it, is blessed with a prime location on the tip of the peninsula, with its seemingly endless strip of white-sand beach. Popular attractions include Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach) and El Arco, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. By evening, Cabo doesn't slow down. • Iglesia de San Lucas
  Established by a Spanish missionary in 1730, a large bell in a stone archway commemorates the completion of the church in 1746. The church boasts many of its original features.
• Vitrofusion Glass Blowing Factory
  Artists use an ancient glass-blowing technique dating back to 2,000 B.C. and transform recycled glass into beautiful pieces of art.
• El Arco at Land's End
  Amazing natural rock formations separate the Pacific Ocean from the Sea of Cortez. Its most famous geographic landmark is "El Arco," which is a huge granite arch formed by the wind and waves.
• Playa El Médano or Dune Beach
  A popular spot for swimming and water-sport rentals. The beach is 7 miles long extending all the way to Villa del Palmar.
• Playa Santa Maria (Santa Maria Beach)
  A horseshoe-shaped beach with sand the color and consistency of pink rice. It is a protected marine sanctuary and a great spot for relaxing.
• Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach)
  A hidden cove that can only be accessed by water transportation. The beach is located near the famous "El Arco."
• Museo de las Californias
  Take a look at the very early years of Cabo San Lucas. A whale skeleton greets you at the entrance with a collection of ancient fossils and historical artifacts dating back to the 16th century await inside.
• Shopping
  From specialty shops and boutiques to galleries and street vendors, find an array of local handicrafts and souvenirs, such as silver, ceramics, wood carvings and even Cuban cigars.

  • Taxis are located behind the Flea Market near the tender pier. Rates are negotiable and should be confirmed before departing.
